The arrival of people to Kurunduwatta New Town for the fulfillment of their various needs is increasing daily. A high number counts among them are people come for their financial requirements and trading purposes. It is a major problem that most of the people are leaving this town owing to the lack of suitable environment to meet their consumer requirements. Therefore, they move to other towns to find suitable to hold their wedding ceremonies, birthday parties and other functions. As there are no suitable places to assemble people for their functions such as lectures, seminars and meetings and as well as educational and cultural activities. As such, it is an essential need of a building with all facilities in their town. Considering all above needs it has started to construct the Kurunduwatta Super Market Trading Complex.
Asupini Waterfall Project is a development project implementing by the Ganga Ihala Korale Pradeshiya Sabha for tourist attractions. This ongoing project is consist of construction of a View Parlour to view the waterfalls and a construction of a road access to the location of the waterfalls and also a power supply to the site. The Ganga Ihala Korale Pradeshiya Sabha expect more financial gaining through this Project.
A waste recycling system is being maintained at the Ulapane Denmark Waste Management Project, which is very harmful to the environment. Under this Project an economical valuation is given to the waste and producing composed manure at the center. Our Pradeshiya Sabha is leading all Government Institutions, Urban Councils and Municipal Councils in implementing the waste management very successfully there.
When this project was commenced, a waste pit was used to dump the waste in Denmark area, in Ulapane and filled with soil on it. As this system is not suitable for a long term, a waste recycling center was started in a land approximately two acres in extent, owned by Ulapane Estate, reserved by the Land Reform Commission, by the suggestion of former Minister of Sports Mr. Mahindananda Aluthgamage.
